Let’s get cooking

  1. 01

    Prepare shrimp

Thaw frozen shrimp in the refrigerator if needed. Pat dry and remove any remaining vein.

  2. 02

    Cook the garlic

Warm oil over medium-low heat. Add garlic and cook 30–45 seconds, without browning.

  3. 03

    Add shrimp

Increase to medium heat and spread shrimp in one layer. Turn after about 2 minutes.

  4. 04

    Finish

Add soy sauce and water. Cook another 2–3 minutes, or until all flesh is firm, opaque, and pearly. Scatter scallion.

A little kitchen wisdom

Shrimp sizes vary; colour on the outside alone does not tell you the centre is done.

Can’t find an ingredient?

Shrimp: Use fish pieces for a different dish and check they reach 63°C.

Cook safely

Cook shrimp until the flesh is firm, opaque, and pearly. Avoid cross-contact with raw seafood.
